Black Rock Desert · since 2016
We have deployed stretch tents on the playa since 2016. That field experience shapes how we approach layout, anchoring, shade, and camp logistics — before a crew ever reaches Black Rock Desert.
Black Rock Desert throws everything at a structure in one week: sustained wind with sudden gusts, whiteout dust storms, alkaline dust, and relentless UV. Any temporary shade structure requires a deliberate plan. A tensioned-membrane stretch tent gives the layout team useful control over shade, edge height, and placement — but it still needs site-specific engineering, installation, and operating limits.
The membrane, poles, anchor points, and site conditions work together. The approved layout and operating limits matter more than a tent category alone.
Ground conditions, exposure, loads, setbacks, and camp placement all affect the anchoring plan. We review those inputs before confirming a setup.
Shade coverage, cleaning, hardware protection, inspection, and a severe-weather procedure belong in the camp plan — not as last-minute additions.

Shade that shapes camp
One canopy can define a shared lounge, service zone, or gathering point while preserving clear circulation around it.
Modular by design
Units can connect edge-to-edge, letting a layout create multiple zones or expand beyond one canopy when the approved site plan allows.
Theme camps rent from us out of Los Angeles — tent, playa-appropriate anchoring, and a layout plan sized to your camp. Prefer to own it? Every size is available for purchase with worldwide shipping, starting at $2,000 for the smallest canvas.
Start with engineered wind limits, a playa-specific anchoring plan, shade coverage, camp circulation, installation responsibility, and a clear severe-weather procedure. We have deployed stretch tents at Burning Man since 2016 and review each camp as a site-specific layout.
We plan Burning Man stretch tent projects from Los Angeles, subject to inventory, transport, crew logistics, and approval of the camp layout. Send the camp size, placement, and dates so we can confirm whether rental or purchase is the better route.
A stretch membrane is tensioned across multiple poles and anchor points, and its geometry can be adjusted for the site. Performance still depends on the exact product, engineering, anchoring, installation, exposure, and forecast. Every temporary structure needs defined operating limits and a response plan.
The right size depends on peak occupancy, furniture, circulation, sound or service areas, placement boundaries, and whether the camp needs one shared space or several zones. Share the camp plan and we will recommend a footprint instead of relying on a generic per-person rule.
